1. Platform 9 3/4, Kings Cross Station, London UK

Movie: Harry Potter

I feel like this is a staple attraction when visiting London. Located in Kings Cross Station, there is now a shop where you buy Harry Potter souvenirs and professional photographers to take your photo going through the brick wall.

2. Shakespeare and Company Bookstore, Paris France

Movie: Midnight in Paris

This quintessentially ex-pat bookstore in Paris’ Left Bank, is seen during a brief glimpse in the film. Famous writers such as Ernest Hemingway, Ezra Pound and Gertrude Stein have walked through its doors. You can even stay there too – as long as you read a book a day!

3. Walled city of Dubrovnik, Croatia

Movies/TV Show: Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Robin Hood

It’s difficult to visit this city and not be reminded of King’s Landing. Crowding the main streets are people handing out pamphlets for Game of Thrones tours, which take you around the show’s most recognisable locations of key scenes. I’ve taken a tour myself and thought it was a highlight of my visit!

4. Falkland, Scotland

TV Show: Outlander

Walking through the main square of this extremely quaint little town, you wouldn’t think that it was a filming location for one of TV’s biggest shows. Seen in the first episode of Outlander and disguised as 1940s Inverness, this is the starting point for the show’s time-travelling adventures. The town is also home to Falkland Palace and Garden.

5. Tiffany and Co, New York City US

Movie: Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Can you really go to New York and not go to Tiffany’s? The world’s most iconic storefront got its stardom status from the classic film starring Audrey Hepburn. Draped in pearls and clasping a bagel, Holly Golightly and the opening scene have created a long-lasting legacy for the powerhouse brand. There’s also a cafe there now so you can literally have breakfast at Tiffany’s.

6. Warner Bros Studios, Los Angeles US

Movies/TV Shows: A LOT. Specifically La La Land, Casablanca, East of Eden, Pretty Little Liars, True Blood.

I have included this on my list due to the movie La La Land (as it’s one of my favourite films). But when I toured this lot in 2014, the movie hadn’t been released yet, and when I saw it in the film I notably freaked out. Even if you are not a movie lover, you’re bound to have seen a movie or TV show that was filmed there. Tours range from around 2-4 hours, and you can go behind the scenes of how movie magic was made!

7. Spanish Steps, Rome Italy

Movie: Roman Holiday

The Spanish Steps are already magical enough but when you throw in Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck it becomes transcendent. Another piece of iconography in cinema thanks to Audrey.

8. Ta Prohm, Siem Reap Cambodia

Movie: Lara Croft Tomb Raider

Otherwise known as the Tomb Raider temple, this ancient temple was put on tourists’ radar after the film’s release. Snap a pic under the tree where Angelina Jolie wandered through in the action film, but beware, there’s a lot of people lining up to do the same!
